HARVEST RESOURCES was developed as a partnership between Deb Curtis and Margie Carter to provide training, consultation, and resources for early childhood education . Our work emphasizes connections between what early childhood professionals want for children and their families, and how teachers need to be educated and treated. In all our work we integrate culturally relevant and anti-bias principles, constructivist learning, child-centered practices, and inspiration from the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. We founded Harvest Resources with the publication of Training Teachers, our first book. In it, we consolidated what we learned and invented over eight years of educating early childhood teachers in a variety of settings, including college classrooms, in-service trainings, and conference seminars. As we labored over this manuscript, we temporarily neglected our gardens, but found it worth the effort when people praised and thanked us for the harvest book. The mission of Harvest Resources is to share our ideas and a portion of our income with projects that raise the quality of life in early childhood programs. We are authors, video producers, speakers, consultants, and college instructors, and are passionate about childhood and the people who care for and teach young children.
