Eighteen Software was founded in 1995 in Ashland, Oregon, a small town located in the foothills of the Siskiyou mountains. The objective of the company was, and has remained, the production of very high quality software for the Earth Sciences. Since 2000, Eighteen Software has its headquarters in Portland, OR. The first software program to be produced by Eighteen Software was MINERAL VENTURE, whose first version came out in 1995. This was a highly sophisticated simulation program, designed for the teaching of economic geology in universities. Constantly modified and improved upon, MINERAL VENTURE is being used in institutions all over the United States and on four continents. In 1997, Eighteen Software released the first version of a new geological simulation software under the name of DeepEarth. This program was designed to fit the requirements of both high schools and colleges in teaching fundamental concepts in geology. In October 2002, Eighteen Software released the first version of HawkEye, a program to display Digital Elevation Models in virtual reality. Everyone is talking about this software! It is truly exciting! HawkEye is destined to become Eighteen Software's leading product.
