When his daughter and son in law took over the chile business they changed the name to El Rey Farms. Rey was a special person. He worked at Northrop since he was 20 years old. The chile business started with him and Elsie bringing a few sacks of Chile for some friends. Then more friends and more friends. We now bring in 4 to 5 truckloads of chile each year. Around 200,000 pounds of chile is brought in from Hatch, New Mexico. Rey was a hard working man. He grew up in the Hatch valley of New Mexico. Some of the chile comes from Martinez land, in the Hatch valley. He is greatly missed by his family, friends, and chile customers. The BEST CHILE in the World comes from Hatch, New Mexico.
