El Paso Electric was established in 1919 by Dudley Elkins, Sr., right here in Colorado Springs, CO. As his sons grew and joined the business, the name was changed to El Paso Electric Elkins & Sons. The three sons continued to operate the business for several years. As the youngest and last surviving son, Henry Elkins, changed the name to El Paso Electric Company in the mid-1980s. Justin Dixon, Henry Elkins' grandson and Dudley's great-grandson, took over the business in 2004.
