El Rey Inn has offered fine Southwestern lodging for over 75 years! Built in 1936 in traditional northern New Mexico adobe style, El Rey Inn was then referred to as a motor court. The hotel is located on what was originally Route 66 . Locally owned and managed by the White family since 1973, El Rey remains Santa Fe's garden hotel as the city grows around its 5 lush acres. Visitors appreciate El Rey's mid-town location as they explore museums, shop and gallery hop, delight in the Santa Fe Opera , golf at Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe , and ski and snowboard at Ski Santa Fe .

The roots of Santa Fe University of Art and Design grow directly from New Mexico’s oldest chartered college, St. Michael’s College, which was founded in 1859 and granted a charter for higher education in 1874. Saint Michael's College changed its name to the College of Santa Fe in 1966 and enrolled its first female students in that same year. On August 30, 2010, the name of the college was changed to Santa Fe University of Art and Design.
