ELITE Aggregates can be used as a substitute for mineral-based lightweight aggregates, reducing millions of pounds of solid waste materials currently being dumped into landfills. The use of ELITE Aggregates requires minimum modification compared to a standard concrete block plant. Solid blocks are produced from our technology, then can be crushed on location, and/or shipped or railed in block form. Most power plants are located in urban areas where nearby raw materials are available, giving the producer the advantage over shipping lightweight mineral aggregates. The engineered aggregate market is a $2+ billion industry in the United States. Estimates are that only about 25-30% of currently available recyclable materials are being utilized in all industries. The U.S. Geological Survey, Mineral Commodity Summaries, July 2008 estimates the selling price of lightweight mineral base aggregates is selling for $40.00 to $120.00 per ton depending on the lightweight of the aggregate (USGS, Mineral Commodity Summaries, July 2008), The cost of producing ELITE Aggregates per ton is significantly less than lightweight mineral-based aggregates (including material, labor, overhead, and fees). ELITE Aggregates will meet LEED certification for use of recycled materials
