Biography: “Robbie” has practiced law in Atlanta for the past 40 years. His first decade was in the public sector including a five and a half year tenure as the Executive Director of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Incorporated, a 40 lawyer program providing free civil legal services to low income citizens in need. Since 1980, Robbie has been a partner or shareholder in several Atlanta law firms, specializing in dispute resolution and litigation. Robbie joined Ellis Funk in 1995. Robbie’s Civil Dispute Resolution and Litigation practice has included a wide variety of areas in which he has served as an advocate for clients, including: business and professional practice breakups; trade secrets and restrictive covenant matters; contract disputes; defamation and other business tort cases; corporate and shareholder disputes; franchise matters; real estate disputes; employment cases; professional liability matters; insurance matters; trademark and other intellectual property matters; and trust and estate disputes. Furthermore, since the late 1980’s, Robbie has frequently served as a neutral (mediator, arbitrator and court-appointed Special Master) in hundreds of cases involving these same kinds of disputes. Robbie’s ADR neutral practice arises both through provider organizations and on a private basis. He also frequently serves as a lecturer on ADR related matters. Robbie was a founding member and officer of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (“AVLF”) and of the Neighborhood Justice Center of Atlanta.
