Description

ELM Homes works with the individuals' family and the county to choose goals which are appropriate to the person and their situation. We provide staff who teach skills which lead to greater independence and self-sufficiency. Our trained In-Home staff work with the person on specific goals to increase independence while communicating and working with family members. ELM Homes' staffing hours are flexible and are based on the person and the family's schedule and needs.

ELM Homes is seeking self-motivated, compassionate, fun-loving employees to provide services to individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities; assist with activities of daily living, community integration, and encouraging independence. Must be 18 or older, drive company vehicles, and background checks are required. All positions include every other weekend. Full-time and part-time hours are available. Available in the counties of Waseca, Steele, Scott, Nicollet, Le Sueur, Blue Earth, Dodge, Faribault, and Freeborn.

Even though services for the handicapped were relatively new during this time, that didn't mean the Millers didn't have experience in taking care of people. In the early 1970's they opened ELM Care Daycare in Waseca, providing opportunities for parents to go to work while leaving their children under the watchful eye of the Millers and their employees. Additionally, through the years the Millers raised five daughters along with providing a home for over 30 foster children.

Our philosophy within ELM Homes SES is to provide support and training for adults with disabilities to gain independence. The principle of normalization and the premise that individuals with disabilities have the right to work in their community in the least restrictive environment possible is the program core of ELM Supported Employment Services (SES).

ELM Homes stands out from other providers as it offers an array of services. ELM Homes has residential placements on hobby farms for those that like the quiet, country feel. We have placements in town, for those that like being able to be more active in the community. ELM Homes has placements where individuals have their own living space, to give a more self-empowering, self-sufficient feel. ELM Homes has placements that are set up completely for individuals with physical handicaps, as well as trained staff to handle those with behavioral concerns.
