We help nurses to study and work in environments where their human potential can be fully realized. The Minority Fellowship Program is becoming an honored tradition within the American Nurses Association, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA), and the hearts and minds of Fellows, leaders in nursing, and health care institutions in global communities. The MFP's staff and its National Advisory Committee recruit and nurture individuals from specific ethnic groups: African Americans, American Indian and Pacific Islanders, Asian Americans, and Hispanic Americans. Within this diversity of its Fellows, it focuses on excellence in research, practice, public policy, and leadership, within local and global communities; it embraces change and helps to shape the future of health care delivery. We welcome your interest in the MFP and in psychiatric and mental health nursing. For nearly three decades, the MFP has aided ethnic nurses in attaining advanced degrees in mental health related areas. The two-fold intent is to expand and enhance the scientific knowledge of mental health care, and to provide quality culturally relevant care to a diverse group of individuals and families within the National and throughout the global community.
