Dr. H. Thomas Staton moved to Springfield in 1978 and set up private practice at 247 S. Burnett Road. Within a short time, Dr. Staton decided he needed a partner. Two years later, in 1980, Dr. Michael B. DuVall joined with Dr. Staton and the two organized the Ear, Nose, and Throat of Springfield. They began with a staff of four employees. It wasn't long before they outgrew their location at 247 S. Burnett Road, so they purchased land at our current location of 435 S. Burnett and built in 1982. They practiced together for 10 years when they decided to again expand operations. They developed their own Allergy and Audiology services in 1992. Business was succeeding and the need arose for yet another partner. Dr. John B. Gillen joined ENT in 1993. Our senior partner, Dr. Staton, retired in 2001. We gained another associate, Dr. Ronald M. Smith, in 2003. In 1999, we began to increase space in our building and renovate current operations in our practice. This was an 18-month undertaking that ran simultaneously with the normal business schedule. Our vision for the future is to always be proactive in growth and development with patient care as our main focus. Together we make Ear, Nose, and Throat of Springfield: a continual story of growth and dedication to excellence.
