Journey Home offers six program categories customized for a client's needs ----whether it's an individual, family or group. Each program uses partnership with horses as the foundation for learning. PICK ONE..........LET'S RIDE!!!! *Equine Assisted Learning *Recreational Horsemanship *Craftsmanship *Shooting Sports *Wilderness Expeditions *Entrepreneurship 1) Equine Assisted Learning Journey Home's equine assisted youth programs for ages 7 - 18 target character development, civic participation and service learning. Programs are presented in an educational format, facilitated by certified horse professionals using experiential skill building exercises. These excerices were developed by the founder of Equine Assisted Psychotherpy, Greg Kersten. They are masterful activities designed to generate positive engagement and offer analogies to life issues. We address leadership, teamwork, responsibility, work ethic, independence, communication, relationship, healthy choice making, motivation, self-esteem, peer pressure, anger management and more. Programs are 6 weeks to several years in length. * Giddy-Up Go Girls - For 4th to 6th grade girls, utilizing the Women's Sports Foundation "GoGirlGo" educational curriculum. We emphasize the theme of each lesson during interaction with the horses. *Hero's Trail - For boys and girls ages 7-15, based on T.A. Barron's "Hero's Trail, Guide for a Heroic Life". *Trail of Courage - For boys and girls ages 7-15, utilizing Matthew Kelly's "Book of Courage". *Champions - For adolescent boys and girls ages 10-18, using Patti and Randy Mandrell's "Champions" curriculum. *Bear Creek Riders Performance Team - For youth ages 12-18 who have graduated from previous Journey Home Learning Programs and who have demonstrated excellence in committment, teamwork and positive attitude. This group is responsible for performing at Journey Home's Annual Cowboy Shindig and various parades during the year. They also assist as peer leaders in other Journey Home programs, teaching younger and less experienced students the basics of horsemanship and the value of teamwork. In 2005, the Riders elected to take the US Army 1st Cavlary Divison as their service project. They created a Tribute to the 1st Cav Veterans and presented it at that year's Shindig. Since then, the group has been officially inducted into the 1st Cavalry Southeastern Colorado Chapter. The relationship between the two organizations is fun and rewarding beyond measure. The 1st Cav Veterans are amazing role models for our youth. Thank you First Team! ******************************** 2) Wilderness Expeditions Howl at the moon! These full moon wilderness expeditions are horseback adventures into Colorado's remote Rocky Mountain San Juan Range.
