Fred is a registered Landscape Architect with over seven years of professional experience working in the Design and Land Planning field. Fred earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Mississippi State University. Fred's specializations at Equinox include GIS analysis, zoning compliance, regulatory permitting, stormwater planning and design, erosion control planning, and master planning.

In 2010, Equinox celebrates its 10th year as a business with a mission to facilitate conservation and sustainable development. Jim joined Equinox in 2009 after a 30 year career with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. After 20 years as a fishery research biologist where he conducted numerous fishery management studies, he most held the position of Watershed Enhancement Group Supervisor. That was a state-wide position in which he was responsible for the development of the Commission's stream restoration program and in coordinating land acquisitions for the Division of Inland Fisheries. These activities were aimed at the protection and enhancement of aquatic resources and habitat.
