About Erickson Ambulance Erickson Ambulance is a private ambulance company that has been serving the greater Racine/Kenosha area for over 50 years. Our founder, A.E. Erickson was a Racine policeman. It was in the capacity of responding to situations that called for non-emeregency transport that the idea for Erickson Ambulance was born. The service was launched with the purchase of a 1958 Chevrolet station wagon and the part-time employment of several other police officers. The industry had changed over the years, and while Erickson remains a “family” oriented business, owned by A.E's son Patrick and his partner Al Nelson, our service has grown and improved as well. Gone is the 1958 Chevy, replaced by highly trained squads of Emergency Medical Technicians with sophisticated equipment that allows them to respond to almost any situation they encounter in the field. Erickson does respond to emergency calls, but it is the non-emergency transfer of patients that is vital to the needs of the aging baby-boomer population. Patients seldom have long hospital stays, and many procedures that would have required lengthy stays can now be done on an out patient basis. At Erickson's, we don't measure growth by the volume of calls handled per year. Our growth is measured by maintaining and improving the training of our employees and by supplying them with the finest equipment available to respond to the needs of our diverse and ever-changing community.
