For over 32 years, Essene has been committed to providing healthful products that are of the highest quality, both in our store and cafe. We define natural food quality in terms of ingredients, nutritional value, freshness, appearance and taste. We are widely regarded as the Philadelphia region's leading natural food store. Our foods are free of artificial ingredients (preservatives, colorings, chemicals). Our support of organically grown foods is paramount. We actively support organic and local farmers as well as independently owned cottage industries. We are in support of the Organic Trade Association's (OTA) concerns regarding GMO's and we will not knowingly carry bio-engineered or irradiated products. We do not carry any products that contain refined white sugar, related products or fructose. Our Cafe (deli and bakery) creates fresh dishes and baked goods daily. All Cafe items are made at the store. Unlike many chain stores, we never have our Cafe deli or baked goods delivered from other sources. All Cafe items are free of animal products and refined sweeteners. We use organic ingredients whenever possible. Our Cafe is truly a unique experience. Our Vitamin and Beauty Care Department stocks only the best in body care products, supplements and vitamins. Our body care lines are cruelty-free and ozone safe. Supplements, herbs and vitamins contain no artifcial preservatives, flavors or colorings and are not irradiated.
