In order to engage the students in active learning, EACS teaches academic subjects in interactive experiential ways within an interdisciplinary environment. In order to connect the worlds of work and school, EACS offers job skills training, job placement assistance, community service opportunities, and elective credit for employment. EACS develops basic academic competencies, higher order thinking skills and abstract theoretical understanding. Upon graduating from EACS, each student will have: - a high school diploma; - a clearly demonstrated set of academic skills; - experience in the workplace and in community service; - a personal development plan for the years beyond high school; - a clear awareness of the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizens; - skill development is measured by traditional, standardized achievement test as well as student portfolio evaluations. How are classes scheduled? Classes are held Monday - Friday from 7:45 am to 11:40 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. EACS follows a two semester academic schedule: Fall (September - December) and Spring (January - June). Does EACS have Support Services? Yes. EACS provides each student with counseling in academic, personal and career areas. Tutors are available in all academic subject areas. All textbooks are loaned to registered students and may be used until the end of the semester, when they must be returned. EACS also provides students with transportation and food services.
