Express Northwest began operations in 1992 as a perishable freight forwarder dedicated to the movement of salal and ferns worldwide. While the initial operations were located in "the garage" in Federal Way , Express Northwest was the first freight forwarder to have an onsite cooler and dedicated refrigerated pick-up service with our own trucks. Utilizing the volume of the cut floral greens, Express Northwest was able to obtain favorable rates with the airlines and expanded our Expertise in the handling of perishable products. Today, the import and export of fruits and vegetables such as asparagus, cherries, peppers, tomatoes, and stone fruits is a year round business. In addition to the movement of produce, Express Northwest has increased our expertise in the transportation of perishable products which include: chocolate, frozen foods, flowers, seeds, and any product that requires special packaging and attention during air or ocean transportation. In 1999, Express Northwest became a member of the Global Perishable Logistics Group (GPLG). This group of dedicated perishable freight forwarders, allows Express Northwest to provide our customers with a total worldwide perishable logistics service. In addition, the GPLG provides our customer the opportunity to sell products worldwide with just a phone calll to Express Northwest.
