F. W. Behler, Inc

Description

The offices for F. W. Behler, Inc. have changed quite a bit over these past 100 years. Originally located in the back room of this stately row home, it was sent to the basement as the family grew in number. During a 1929 remodeling and addition project, the rear of the home, a two story framed addition, was separated and literally pulled towards the rear of the property by a team of horses where it was placed adjacent to the warehouse. A new foundation was built under the relocated pantry/second floor bedroom and this remained as our office until 1987, when we finally outgrew the smaller space. At that time, we returned to the first floor of the row home. Only this time, we now occupied the entire first floor! The old office now serves as a parts storage building.
