Welcome to the Family Law Section's website. If you are not already a member, I hope that you will consider joining our Section, either as an attorney member or an affiliate member. There are many great benefits of membership which make it more than worthwhile to join. We offer the best continuing legal education in family law at a discount to our members, subscriptions to our great Section publications and an ability to truly make a difference in the formulation of family law in Florida. Most importantly, Section membership affords a wonderful opportunity to forge new friendships and networking relationships with family lawyers throughout the state. Following up on the successful theme of my predecessor Allyson Hughes, which was "Bringing Others Along," my theme for this year is "Three Bs: Be Involved, Be Ready and Be Right." It is my goal for all of the members of the Family Law Section to follow that theme, which will make all of us better able to serve the families of Florida. The first step to becoming a better family lawyer is to "Be Involved." We are especially encouraging new members and members who have not been active in the past to attend our retreats, join a committee and let your voice be heard. Almost all of our committees (except the Executive Committee, the Legislation Committee and the Nominating Committee) have an open membership policy. ...
