Richard and La Rue Hilton are people who love children. The Hiltons have seven children. Yet the Hilton's hearts were turned to Central America as they witnessed and heard of children in great despair. In 1992 the Hiltons traveled to Honduras and their hearts were touch by the poverty they saw. In response to their trip, Family Life Missions was born with the goal of helping and healing the children of Honduras emotionally, physically, and spiritually. A central location was searched for and a home for the first "Por Los Ninos" Children's Home was founded in June of 1994 in Catacamas, Honduras. "Por Los Ninos" literally means "for the sake of the children". The first home was rented and children were supported by a small group of donors and businessmen. People were so generous and willing to help that a second house was purchased and renovated in 1995. As the organization felt growing pains, it became self-evident that a village was needed to care for the children. A search was started to buy land and a ten-year development plan was laid out. The plan was designed for a central village with ten houses, caring for sixty children. The site would include a storage facility, a multi-purpose center(for school and church) and gardens for food. In 1997 the plans took shape to form reality and work started on the "Por Los Ninos village."
