ACCREDITATION BY PET CARE SERVICES ASSOCIATION (PCSA) WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR ME AND MY PET? The Pet Care Services Association is the only non-profit trade association for nearly 3000 pet care service businesses, including dog and cat boarding and day care facilities, located in the United States and around the world. Membership in the PCSA is open to facilities who elect to join the Association and agree to abide by its Code of Ethics, Bill of Rights, and Standards and Practices Accreditation by PCSA, however, unlike membership alone, is limited to those facilities that qualify. Qualification for accreditation by the PCSA requires a facility to demonstrate compliance (as verified by an on-site evaluator) to a comprehensive set of industry established standards (over 250) in seventeen (17) separate areas of pet care facility operations, management, and customer service. These standards were developed by the PCSA to "reflect the views of facility operators, veterinarians, pet owners, and humane organizations representing the 'state of the art' in animal care and management." The goal of the Accreditation Program, according to the PCSA, was to "give special recognition to those facilities that have demonstrated the highest level of quality in commercial pet care by complying with industry established standards of facility design and operation." According to PCSA, "when pet owners see the Pet Care Services Association Accreditation Ribbon in a pet care facility's office, they can be assured that they are entrusting their pet to the care of a dedicated leader in the commercial pet care industry." The Farm is proud to be the facility in Middle Tennessee to have earned Accreditation by the PCSA, and only one of three facilities to have earned Accreditation in the entire state of Tennessee.
