Description

The Farmington Community Band, founded in 1966 as the Farmington Civic Band, has grown from the initial six-member group to encompass today's ninety-member Concert Band, a twenty-piece Jazz Band, Clarinet Choir, Dixieland Band, Flute Ensemble, and several other small ensembles. The FCB is a non-profit organization sponsored by individual, business, and corporate patronage as well as grants from corporations such as Target. Additional support is provided by the Farmington Hills Special Services, Cultural Arts Division. The FCB is guided and operated by a Board of Directors representing all facets of the community. The Board conducts business at regular quarterly meetings and assigns the daily operation to the executive board and the professional staff which includes the conductor, business manager, librarian, and equipment manager.
