According to the rules, each man can kill two bucks a season and can have two guests who are permitted to kill their limits. Mr. Farrell's herd is a private one, estimated now to be increased to 2000 from the 86 he purchased in 1926, but he enforces the state hunting regulations because he feels that the game laws protect his investment. As a third of a herd are usually bucks and at the Triangle F only 50 or 60 are killed each year, there is always ample game. Of course, some guests just don't bag, and to ease that situation their visit is not counted against their host. There is no limit at Triangle F on non-shooting guests, but the first week of a season is reserved for members. They come with their servants for the big stag dinner, which is always held Nov. 15, and stay over for as many days as business will permit. Incidentally, that big dinner is something. There is everything from baked turkey, brisket, ribs, with all of the trimmings, to plum pudding, fruitcake and salted nuts. All "on the house." After that, the men supply their own food, each bringing a list of groceries assigned to them by the leader of the hunt club, who makes out the menus for each meal of that gala week a good two months in advance. Although the men from Fort Worth have built a shack nearby and no Dallas man dares to pass under the sign which reads "Out Where the West Begins," the headquarters house is the main center of activity and interest for everyone...
