First Chatham Bank opened for business on January 23, 2002 and became the first locally owned full service commercial bank chartered in Chatham County since 1989. The majority of financial institutions in Chatham County have been acquired by large out-of-state and out-of-area bank holding companies. This has resulted in the need and demand for more personalized service backed by local decision making by bankers you know and bankers who know you. First Chatham Bank was organized by 18 local business and community leaders to meet that need.
