Filament Productions is a Production Design and Touring Video company based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Founded in 1991 by Fenton Williams, Filament Productions has grown alongside of the Dave Matthews Band over the past 20 years providing the band with Production Design and Touring Video. Because of its success with the Dave Matthews Band , the third highest grossing touring band in the world and the highest attended and grossing touring band in the past decade in North America, Filament Productions is one of the top Production Design and Touring Video companies in the industry. Filament’s list of clients continues to expand and now includes Tim McGraw who according to Nielsen BDS is the most played artist on the radio over the last decade. Filament Productions provides Production Design and Touring Video for Tim McGraw’s 2010 Southern Voice Tour. Fenton Williams: Widely respected as one of the most innovative lighting designers and video directors in the entertainment industry Filament’s president and founder, Fenton Williams, has worked with the Dave Matthews Band for 20 years. He began as their road manager and has served as the Dave Matthews Band’s production designer and lighting director for the last 15 years. Fenton Williams is also the production and lighting designer for Tim McGraw’s 2010 Southern Voice Tour. In addition, Williams has worked with acts such as Liza Minnelli , John Mayer , Eric Clapton and events such as Bonnaroo Music Festival , Z100′s Jingle Ball, and Nashville Rising . Mike Lane: Every kind of show you can imagine. That is the experience that Mike Lane has acquired in over 25 years in nearly every aspect of the theatrical arena. From the smallest black box theatre to the world’s largest stadiums, talent to technician, there are no corners of show production the Mike has not explored. The last ten years have seen Mike’s focus turn to live video event production. As Video/LED engineer for events ranging from the 2002 Winter Olympics, Super bowl XXXIX, CES, Comdex, E3 and other corporate shows. From rock n’ roll tours ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Barbra Streisand , Mike has worked with a diverse range of clients. Most recently, Mikes work can be seen as Touring Video Director for the Dave Matthews Band since 2003 as well as directing shows for The Cure , Sheryl Crow , Robert Randolph and many other world renowned artists. Jeff Crane: If you have been to a live performance of any kind on the West Coast in the past twenty years, odds are Jeff Crane was involved with the production. Jeff’s experience ranges from visual/set design in San Fran, to further down the coast in San Diego at the Sledgehammer Theater, and large-scale outdoor installations on Sunset BLVD. Jeff started his career as a visual designer for five years at George Coates Performance Works in San Francisco. He also had a highly successful two-year stint at Herring Media Group/FCB . There he was the lead engineer responsible for massive projections creating spectacular architectural theaters in the United States and Canada. Underneath the massive projections (150’-300’ wide), concerts were regularly held to highlight the work above.
