Linda Quackenbush was honored as Auxilian of the Year for her dedication to the Huntington Living Center in Waterloo. Quackenbush has been a member of the Taylor-Brown Auxiliary for over 20 years – she is the longest serving president of the Taylor-Brown Auxiliary with a 12 year consecutive run her first term and is currently holding that position again. She has been very involved in the planning of puppet shows for area school districts, the Festival of Stars, and the annual Taylor-Brown Golf Tournament.

The Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing, one of only three hospital-based nursing programs in New York State, was founded in 1956. Since that time, it has graduated over 1,600 nurses.

The Employee of the Year for 2013 was presented at the end of the evening, honoring Bea Watt, CNA on Unit 1 at Living Center Geneva-South, for her service at Finger Lakes Health. Watt was recognized for consistently going above and beyond and providing exceptional service to patients, families, physicians, and colleagues. This is the twelfth year the coveted Employee of the Year award has been presented, part of the Distinguished Values Award Program at Finger Lakes Health. Each quarter, employees from each site at Finger Lakes Health (Geneva, Waterloo, and Penn Yan) are recognized.

In response to their findings, the institute researchers worked with major houseboat and generator manufacturers to develop new ways to reduce carbon monoxide levels.
