Finnish Designs is located just south of Duluth, Minnesota. Duluth is a city rich in Scandinavian heritage situated at the westernmost point of Lake Superior. We make our home in the small town of Esko, a crossroad founded by people of Finnish descent. Finnish Designs was founded in 1981 and has served the Scandinavian gift industry for over 20 years as a wholesale supplier and distributor of unique Scandinavian products. In addition, Finnish Designs has traveled throughout the country to Scandinavian festivals and gatherings with these products. Finnish Designs began it's second generation in 1998, nearly 20 years after it was started by my mother and father, Jim and LaVerne Rengo. The designs and artistry that you will see on our site are the creative works of LaVerne, who is still busy generating new artwork and ideas for Finnish Designs. Jim continues handcrafting many items as well. In addition to traveling to Finland to find new treasures, they remain active in much of the behind the scenes work at Finnish Designs. Sandy and I take care of the day-to-day activities from order processing to web development. In 2000 we launched our web site. In many years that we have been up and running, we have heard from Scandinavians in all parts of our country. They have told us what we had heard in our travels - "We don't have a Scandinavian store in our town" or "Our Scandinavian shop doesn't carry what we're looking for...
