Richard earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from the University of Dayton in 1968. For over 30 years he was employed as a manufacturing engineer responsible for establishing work standards, equipment development, equipment procurement, and all aspects of machine guarding and safety. This experience was gained in weather strip, pipe gasket, and aerospace production facilities that used both extruded and molded rubber technologies.
