First Bank traces its origin to June 9, 1902 when the comptroller of the currency issued a charter to the First National Bank of Groveton, Texas. First National continued its operation until September 16, 1972 when the bank's name was changed to First Bank in Groveton under a charter issued by the Texas Department of Banking. The bank's name was changed to Republic Bank Groveton in 1981 and finally to First Bank in 1982. First Bank is located at First & Devine Street in Groveton, its address, since 1960.First Bank is a member of the Citizens State Financial Corporation, a locally owned holding company. First Bank operates as an independent unit along with its sister bank, Citizens State Bank of Corrigan, Texas. Under the direction of its Board of Directors, First Bank follows a conservative management style, adhering to sound policies and prudent principles of banking operations. As a result First Bank maintains a strong capital position, which permits us to provide funding for the financial short and long term needs of our customers.
