First Bank of West Texas (formerly known as “Coahoma State Bank”) was chartered in 1961 in Coahoma , Texas. In 1992, Coahoma State Bank established a branch in Big Spring , 10 miles to the west of Coahoma. In 1993, we further branched out to Loraine , Texas, 35 miles to the east. In October, 1995, we changed our name to First Bank of West Texas to better describe our service coverage area. Then, in 1996, we established a branch in Abilene , Texas, which is 100 miles to the east of Coahoma. In October, 2006, First Bank opened our newest location: 607 S. Scurry, located near the heart of downtown Big Spring. First Bank of West Texas is growing to meet the demands of and be more convenient to our customers.
