Flavors of ripe strawberries and pears intensify the smooth, crisp finish. reds Valpolicella, Allegrini (Veneto, Italy), 2005 This light and fragrant red exhibits aromas and flavors of sweet cherries and roasted nuts. The veneto’s famed Corvina grape is the key player in this young Valpolicella. Temperanillo, Fontana “Mesta” (Castilla, Spain), 2004 A little red gem offering cherry and dried herbs from the nose to the palate. This light to medium bodied effort is a favorite among Tapas Bars in Spain where a variety of small portion dishes are served. Temperanillo pairs well with a wide range of flavors. Syrah, Liberty School (Paso Robles, California), 2004 The nose is brimming with aromas of black berry, currants and smoke. On the palate are flavors of ripe dark cherries, black pepper and wild exotic berries. This wine is medium to full bodied with intense color. Malbec, Alamos (Mendoza, Argentina), 2005 Aromas of tea, leather and black berry explode from this dense and smoky Malbec. It possesses the concentration and texture of a baby Bordeaux with fruit, beefy tannins and full flavor on the palate. Zinfandel, Bogle “Old Vines” (California), 2005 The style of Zinfandel pursued by Bogle is one of forward, aggressive and glorious fruit. Beaujolais-Villages, Georges Duboeuf (French), 2005 The nose opens with sour cherry, cranberry and black raspberry. Dark, ripe and juicy on the palate with a fleshy core of black cherry and plum fruit. Good acidity and imperceptible tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cousino-Macul (Chile), 2005 This medium to dark ruby colored Cabernet displays a nose of creamy black fruit intermingled with roasted herbs. The palate has excellent concentration and depth with soft black fruit flavors. Chile has been making great value wines for years.
