First Manhattan Co. was founded in 1964 and remains an owner-operated business. The firm is registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as an investment adviser and as a broker-dealer, and is a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

First Manhattan Co. provides investment management services to individuals, partnerships, trusts, retirement accounts and institutional clients. Our clients interface directly with a portfolio manager who has the expertise and experience needed to make appropriate unbiased investment decisions on their behalf. Our client relationships are typically long-term. For many clients, we are managing accounts of the second and third generation.
