Abstract: The Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) currently uses parabolic dish antennas at the Remote Tracking Station (RTS) sites and Automated RTS (ARTS) sites. Operation of these sites does not currently include automated scheduling and resource management of the satellite contacts. As a result, planning Satellite Operations (SATOPS) is still a manual function. FIRST RF proposes a Global Resource Management (GRM) architecture using automatic algorithms at the global level and hardware updates from the local level.

The name FIRST RF represents our core competencies, our objectives, and our ability to establish a best-in-class team for our customers. The primary objective of our organization is to develop and manufacture state-of-the-art antennas and RF technology and products for various applications.

Since 2003 FIRST RF has won seventy-seven Phase I and fourty-four Phase II SBIR programs. We have successfully transitioned many of these to Phase 2.5 and Phase III and full scale production. In addition to our government funded developments, FIRST RF supports rapid prototype and commercialization of our products for large scale manufacturing. These company funded projects focus on innovative products that offer a substantial improvement in performance and capabilities mitigating cost, schedule, and system performance risk to our customers.

FIRST RF has been awarded over 200 research and development programs. Over 100 of these awards were full and open competion by the government or primes. Since 2003 FIRST RF has won 77 Phase I SBIR programs and have successfully transitioned more than 44 of these to Phase II programs. We have also transitioned numerous Phase II SBIR projects to Phase III and full scale production. .

Abstract: The proliferation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in DoD’s fleet has created a serious need for lightweight, airborne conformal antennas that cover numerous frequency bands. Shadow 200 is a great example of a high performance, exceptionally versatile UAV system which is finding use among nearly all DoD services. This airframe’s ever-expanding set of functions requires a fresh approach to antenna design that is a departure from the traditional function-specific bolt-on antenna.
