First State Bank of Golva, Beach, Medora celebrates over 100 years of community service. “If it’s not good for our customers, it’s not good for the Bank” is the philosophy that has guided the First State Bank since 1906. The First State Banks roots began as the First State Bank of Burkey; they moved to Golva in 1920, opened offices in Beach on August 1, 1996 and Medora in the Fall of 2001. The family banking philosophy began with Orin Baertsch in 1917, the father of Don Baertsch, who started his banking career in 1947 as an FDIC examiner.
