First State Bank was chartered in Joplin, Missouri in 1925 at our current location of 802 Main Street. At that time, all of the banks in town were hometown or locally owned banks. First State Bank is the only remaining bank that is hometown and locally owned. Many bank and bank names have come and gone over the years and First State Bank is extremely proud to have passed the test of time and remains strong and independent.In the 1960's First State Bank was one of the first banks in town to have a drive-up bank. This was a circular building on the west side of the existing main bank building. The two buildings were connected by an overhead walkway, which was required by law at that time.In the 1970's First State Bank was one of the first banks to have an ATM called "Quick Silver" which was descriptive of the mining area and the functionality of the revolutionary machine. First State Bank now has 10 ATM locations in the area to serve your needs.
