Dena graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Masters Degree in Communicative Disorders. She has been working with young children and their parents as a speech and language pathologist in Via’s First Step Early Intervention Program since September of 2006. Her passion is working with young children while providing direct training to parents and caregivers in techniques that enhance the development of speech and language skills.

Simply stated, Via Services is devoted to turning disabilities into capabilities. For over 65 years, we have been helping children and adults with special needs achieve greater self-sufficiency and lead richer lives. Our innovative programs make real changes in the lives of the special needs community—including the parents and family who love and care for them.

That’s why Via West residential respite programs provide unprecedented levels of structure and support for all of our participants. In addition to the wide array of amenities, services, and activities designed specifically for those with special needs, we provide an extremely high staffing ratio to be sure every participant gets the attention they need. Before every respite session, we assess each individual participant and decide whether a 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 staffing ratio is best for their safety and positive experience, as well as your peace of mind.

The Via West facility has a vast array of activities that appeal to children and adults with every type of special need, and we organize each session around the needs of the individual participant. All of our activities are designed to encourage independence and interaction, and we provide the full structure, support, and staff needed to make every participant feel safe, empowered, and excited about their own potential.

Via Services is looking for an occupational therapist with experience in sensory integration and oral motor interventions and knowledge of typical and atypical early childhood development. The responsibilities for this position include working with families and children ages birth through 5 at risk for developmental delays or diagnosed with developmental disabilities in center and home-based early intervention programs including screenings and assessments with a trans-disciplinary team. There are also opportunities to work with older children in a school environment.
