Kristie currently facilities an Intensive, Outpatient Program. She has over 20 years of experience in the field of addiction treatment. She worked at a North Dakota human service center for over 20 years, with nine of those years as the director of addiction services for nine of those years. She is involved in several organizations related to the field of addiction counseling, including the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), North Dakota Treatment Providers Coalition (NDTPC), and the North Dakota Addiction Counselor Association (NDACA).
First Step Recovery, PLLP was founded in January 2000 by Susan Stenehjem-Brown and Michael Kaspari. The agency provided an Intensive, Outpatient Treatment program for people with substance use disorders. As the agency expanded, additional programming and staff was added. By 2003, First Step Recovery was providing outpatient treatment, family programming, and relapse prevention treatment. In addition, a full-time staff member was providing consultation services to a local hospital.
Pam joined First Step Recovery in 2013 after working at a local human service center for over three years. She completed the Matrix Clinical and Supervisory Training in 2009 and has experience in facilitating primary treatment and women's aftercare programming.
In 2011, First Step Recovery, PLLP, was purchased by The Village Family Service Center. This collaborative effort has resulted in increased capacity to provide substance abuse and mental health services in the community. First Step Recovery, a program of The Village Family Service Center, is proud to provide a niche service within the Fargo community. In 2012, we received full accreditation through the Council On Accreditation (COA) which recognizes our adherence to national standards for delivery of substance abuse services.
Judy has worked at First Step Recovery since 2005. She received a Bachelor’s of Art degree from California State University-Long Beach. She has over 35 years of experience in office administration. As office manager, Judy is responsible for scheduling intakes, accounts payable and receivable, and numerous other duties that help with the operation of the agency.
