Description

This travel agency began in 1976 when Pauline Dent opened LaPorte Travel Center at 1200 Michigan Avenue in LaPorte with one full-time agent. In 1980, LaPorte Travel Center acquired First Merchants Travel in Michigan City. The two offices became one company operating as First Travel Center, Inc. Pauline's daughter, Nancy Dent Gorman, joined the family-owned business and operated both offices from 1980 until April 2000, when two employees of 11 years, Lisa M. Bedwell and Tracy E. Hayter, purchased the company and changed the name to Bedwell & Hayter, Inc. dba First Travel Center. Currently we employ 4 full-time employees, 1 part-time employee and 4 outside sales agents.
