FlexKote Industries, Inc. is the result of 20 years of research and development in actual field installations of roofing and waterproofing systems. Our experiences with elastomerics began in 1984 with the search for an energy efficient roof coating to be added to a component system for shared energy saving contracts. As a result, the FlexKote Roofing System became the focus of marketability because of the obvious benefits offered. Early in the development of the coating we became involved in the process of manufacture working directly with the small coatings company making the product. As time progressed the coatings company also developed it's own technology in the auto refinish market and was acquired by large public company trading on the NYSE. As a result of the acquisition and intent of the acquiring company to market the auto refinish line, all other lines and private labels were extinguished from the factory output. After experimenting with several other products available as professional roof coatings, the realization of manufacturing in house was imminent. Armed with the information we had acquired, we began the long journey to development of a new generation coating system to meet the needs of both the building owner and the contractor. With these needs in mind we integrated a polyurethane synthetic rubber into the system in late 1998.
