Floyd Total Security is a privately held company founded in 1945 by a returning WWII veteran, Floyd E. Backman. Originally located at Seventh and Hennepin in downtown Minneapolis, Floyd provided quality services and the company’s business gained a solid reputation. In 1953 Floyd Backman got married and moved to Arizona when Jean and Chuck Karch bought the business which had relocated to 820 Hennepin Avenue. Under Jean’s leadership the company expanded beyond traditional locksmith products and services into electronic security solutions. Their son Mike is our CEO today.

Since 1974 we've run our own UL® Listed monitoring and dispatch center locally here in the Twin Cities. Operated by our sister company, Security Response Services Inc has achieved Five Diamond Certification from the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA). Our team members have achieved proficiency and certification to serve our customers around the clock, 365 days a year. Less than 3% of recognized North American monitoring centers have Five Diamond Certification according to the CSAA.
