Fly Iowa is a non-profit statewide aviation fair organized by the Iowa aviation promotion group and selected host communities and airports. Fly Iowa began in 1991 and has been held in 10 different Iowa communities including Spencer, Ottumwa, Iowa City, Boone, Ft Dodge, Waterloo, and Le Mars. Cedar Rapids hosted Fly Iowa 2003 and Washington held Fly Iowa 2004 on June 6th and 7th. Clarinda hosted Fly Iowa 2005 on September 10 and 11 and Spencer is the site for Fly Iowa 2006 on June 10 and 11. The goals of Fly Iowa are to increase public knowledge and support of aviation and local airports through an entertaining and educational public event. We want the public to see the importance of airports and aviation to the economic development of Iowa communities. Fly Iowa activities include educational exhibits and displays of aircraft and career opportunities in aviation, and a fly-in breakfast. And of course, an air show is a cornerstone of the event...
