That bank was Farmers & Merchants Bank ( FMB ). On January 5, 1907, it opened for business with $25,000 in Capital. FMB has grown to be one of the oldest and strongest financial institutions in Florida, its roots deeply embedded in Jefferson County for over 100 years. Always a strong but conservative financial institution, FMB served its community faithfully through good and bad economic times. In 1966, F.W. Carraway, Sr., a Tallahassee legislator, was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors.
