News and Events Congratulations Dr. Satish! On your achievement of the Physician of the Quarter 2007 as voted by the staff at Methodist Hospital- Sugar Land Dr. Satish was feted Tuesday, August 14, 2007, with a luncheon-celebration by the staff and administration of Methodist Hospital-Sugar Land honoring him with the award for Physician of the Quarter 2007. After a buffet lunch, cake and punch, Dr. Satish was presented with a beautiful glass and silver award. One of the staff members read excerpts from some of the comments that were made regarding Dr. Satish. Your colleagues speak highly of you............ -You spoke to an ICU patient recently diagnosed with cancer who had a life expectancy of 2-6 months. You were extremely sensitive, respectful, and compassionate and took a great deal of time and care when speaking to him about his diagnosis, treatment options, and hospice care. You encouraged him to discuss his emotional needs and not neglect his own feelings even though he was very worried about his family's reaction to the news. You advised him on how he could meet his various nees in the next few months. You encouraged him to call for any need that arises. Dr. Satish, you displayed all the ICARE values in your interactions with your patient. -You are also respectful and compassionate when dealing with staff and you also respond quickly to patient and family needs keeping their best interest in mind. -You are a wonderful physician with such a compassionate, caring disposition. -You always have a smile on your face and treat the staff with the utmost respect. Your patient population of geriatric patients tend to be a challenge because there are a lot of family members involved. -You communicate very well with your patients and their families. -You told the staff once that you realize that your patients will not live forever, but you want to make sure that they can experience a good quality of life during their remaining time. -You do not receive the recognition you deserve because you are a quiet gentleman. You are someone I would like to take care of me when I am older. ********************************************************************* Excerpt from Houston Chronicle article, Sunday, August 5, 2007: Sugar Land resident Michele Lara started 3A Bereavement Foundation in Houston in 1997 to help indigent and low-income families bury their loved ones.
