The Fortune, Inc. story began nearly sixty years ago when Richard Fortune, Jr. opened his sail loft in Portland's Old Port district. During its time as a sail loft, Fortune made sails for such notable vessels as the schooner Bowdoin. Today the second and third generations of Fortunes are still hard at work in a company that has survived cycles of expansion and contraction, diversification of services and products and scaling back of products and services, favorable business climates and periods of deep recession. Fortune, Inc. is a manufacturer of custom marine canvas and upholstery products. We are an integral part of Maine's boat building industry, providing many of the State's finest builders and service facilities with high quality marine canvas and upholstery products - all of which are designed to withstand the elements of sun, salt water and hard use.
