ZG-MAP (Zero Gravity Microscopy Platform) FSTC, Incorporated is proud to announce that we are assisting the Association of Small Payload Researchers (ASPR) in its efforts to create a microscopy platform on the International Space Station (ISS). (This is an MS Word document which may take some time to download as it is a 41 page proposal.) Since its launch in 1999, the ISS has been new hope in space exploration. It was hoped for ISS to become the platform for studies in long-term behavior of Biological, Chemical and Physical processes in microgravity. The potential is great, and the initial results show long-term behavior of these processes is different. To date the results have been qualitative, but the ZG-MAP is hope for a more quantitative analysis. The ZG-MAP is a light/ atomic force microscopy platform to be installed in an EXPRESS rack (an experiment container designed to be easily swapped out of the ISS approximately every 3 months) via SPACEHAB (a hardware and service provider for NASA and its contractors) and the ASPR. The platform will be available for all ISS users to analyze crystal, biological, and solid state experiments conducted in the space station.
