The mission of Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida is to transform the lives of homeless men, women and children by providing crucial services to end their crisis of homelessness. It is the largest provider of homeless services in Central Florida. The Coalition provides food, shelter, education, job skills training, after-school programs and community housing to thousands of people in need at its downtown Orlando location. Twenty five percent of the people it serves are children – and it is one of the few organizations that can keep families together.

Our congregation is deeply embedded in the Winter Garden community. We sponsor Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, as well as hosting many other community organizations on our campus. We also operate a popular preschool, The Learning Center , founded in 1992.

The United Methodist Church (UMC) is a Methodist Christian denomination that is both mainline Protestant and Evangelical. Founded in 1968 by the union of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church, the UMC traces its roots back to the revival movement of John and Charles Wesley within the Church of England. As such, the church's theological orientation is decidedly Wesleyan. It embraces both liturgical and evangelical elements.

First United Methodist Church (FUMC) is located on North Lakeview Avenue, in historic downtown Winter Garden, a stone’s throw from City Hall and the Farmer’s Market. Our church was founded in 1895, and we will be celebrating our 120th anniversary in March 2015!.

Ground breaking was held in 1941 for a larger church building and the dedication was held in June 1942 during the morning services. In 1942 the bell from the old church was moved to the new Sanctuary Tower. The old bell was later replaced by a new one purchased in Shingle Creek (near Kissimmee). Under Rev. Berry D. Bourn (1944-46), plans were drawn for the Educational Building, Fellowship Hall and the Chapel. An Aeolian organ, light fixtures and stained art-glass windows were installed in the sanctuary under Rev. Rembert A. Guy (194244). During 1949, a library was established. A new parsonage, located on Tilden Street and Roper Drive, was built in 1972. A preschool and kindergarten was opened September 1978. The Acolyte program began in 1979.
