Description
I am a Software Developer working for Vero UK Limited, based in Cheltenham, UK. My work involves, Research & Development of triangle-mesh management software library and generic geometric algorithms for Vero's CAD/CAM Software Products. The mesh management library is being developed to address variety of needs in CAD/CAM and Modelling applications. It is a comprehensive library under active development with features ranging from mesh validation to boolean operations and etc. Prior to this, I worked as Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate in the Department of Computer Science , University College London (UCL) under partnership with Vero UK Limited, on a two year collaborative project. In this role I worked on extraction of usable 2D & 3D Components from triangle meshes and published the same in CAD&A'08 Journal vol 5(1-4). I am pursuing part-time PhD at UCL under the supervision of Dr. Anthony Steed who was my KTP Project Academic Supervisor. My PhD topic is Haptic Simulation for Soft Objects. My PhD work runs in parallel to my usual work life. In my PhD I am looking at Differences in Kinesthetic feedback for soft objects and hard objects and how it can be made effective for soft objects. Applications are numerous. They vary from VR surgical applications to immersive 3D games. The point is simple, can we distinguish virtual touch between soft objects and hard objects!. I hold a Masters degree in Virtual Environments and Visualization from the University of Hull , Hull, UK, Bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering from Dr. N.N. College of Engineering, University of Madras, India, and a Diploma in Computer Engineering from A.A.N.M. & V.V.R.S.R. Polytechnic, Gudlavalleru, AP, India. Besides, I had obtained a Post-Graduate Management Diploma (vocational) called, National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Management (level 4) from Chartered Management Institute (CMI), London. It has been supported by the Knowledge Transfer Partnerships scheme. In addition, I took the course of Managing High Technology Organisations at London Business School from January till March 2008 which is an MBA Elective taught in the school. This was supported by UCL through CSEL . Selection was through interview and priority. I started my professional work life as Clinical Image Analysis Software Development Officer at FMRIB Centre , Department of Clincal Neurology and Wolfson Medical Vision Laboratory , Department of Engineering Science at University of Oxford , Oxford, UK. Here I worked on developing software tools for efficient visual-analysis of multi-dimensional multi-modal heart and brain images. My interests are in, -Effective Virtual Environments(VEs) -Physics Based Modelling -High performance 3D visualization Screenshots of some of the programs that resulted from my various works are below. Talapatram - Sofware to type in Indian Languages. HeartBeAT - A Multi-Sequence Medical Image Viewer.
