Furniture Outlets USA, founded in 1976 by William A. Hinks, has grown from a single location in Sioux Falls, SD to one of America's top 100 furniture retailers. At the present time it owns and operates twenty-two furniture stores and two carpet stores in four states. In Sioux Falls, the company has South Dakota Furniture Mart, Unclaimed Freight Furniture, Unclaimed Freight Clearance Center, Furniture Outlets USA Factory Clearance and Carpet One. The company has four Furniture Outlet USA stores in Minnesota, one in Iowa and one in Fargo, North Dakota. Sioux Falls has remained the company's headquarters with its corporate office and Distribution Center housed in a one hundred and eighty nine thousand square foot facility. The facility has nearly twenty-seven miles of linear shelving and is operated through a radio frequency bar coding system. Furniture Outlets USA's strategy has always been to sell products at a lower cost, promote a high level of customer service, attract and retain the best employees possible, strengthen their brands, image, and awareness of them, and utilize state-of-the-art inventory and information technology.
