When Gwynne Hampton Slack opened his doors for business in 1947, he realized that the only way he could compete with the well established local lumber yards was to offer the best selection as well as better service. Today, the competitive landscape is very different. Large do it yoursel centers have replaced the traditional mom and pop hardware stores and large foreign conglomerates dominate the Lumber yards. However, what still remains the same today at G. H. Slack and Son is the comittment to selection, service and customer satisfaction. What we do well is to bring dreams to reality. As a material supplier serving both the construction trade as well as the retail clientele, our success hinges on the services we provide to our customers. To achieve that goal we rely on our manufacturers. At G. H. Slack and Son, special orders are our bread and butter. We excell at it and we thrive on it. Some people think of us only as a door and window store. We are a lot more than that. We have a very large inventory of mouldings, weatherstripping, tools and acccessories. Our selection of door and bath hardware is second to none, limited only by the extent of your imagination. Our showroom is unique, exclusive and offers alternative to the mondane.
