Description
Providing healthy meals to busy people, never compromising on quality, freshness, and support for the local economy. I learned most of my cooking skills from my Italian grandmother and my German father. I spent many hours in my grandmother's kitchen under her kind and loving toutilidge. She was amazing! She never measured ingredients. I would ask her "How much?" and she would answer "Quanto basta." which translates to "as much as needed:" A pinch of salt, a fist of pasta. Then she would let me "feel" the dough and "knead" the pasta to get the feel of perfection. We would tend the garden, the fruit orchard, and her chickens, and she never ceased to amaze me when she gathered up fresh ingredients and transformed them into fabulous meals. My father took a bit different approach. His teaching style was different. He was stern, and expected perfection. His apple pie was the best on the planet. He could bake! Food has always been a comfort to me and things got out of hand as I grew into an adult. I got serious about changing my life in March of 2003. I couldn't walk, I couldn't find clothes to fit, my blood pressure was dangerously high, and I was tired all the time. Today, after losing over 165 pounds, I am full of energy, I sleep 5 hours a night, I actively engage in walking daily, and have discovered the rewards of sponsored walks and races to benefit different causes. I started Zone-Ware four years ago to help people in their personal journeys to better health. I created Bridgecity Nutrition to offer a comprehensive plan to assist people to understand their nutritional needs. I understand the whole spectrum of emotional and physical feelings that can accompany illness and eating disorders, and the need for you to understand your dietary plan. This includes understanding your specific plan, how to maintain it, and how to properly prepare your foods. My newest addition is Garden of Eating, a full service In-Home Catering business, to offer premium, quality meals and special dining events to busy people in the greater Portland, Oregon area. I offer services based on a broad knowledge base in both the nutritional and culinary fields. I am a certified Zone nutrition counselor. I currently work in the home health field and special education, and owned a restaurant in California before relocating to the Pacific Northwest. My personal journey has been one of self-actualization and reflection. I am grateful for the second chance at life, and wish to pass on my knowledge to help others achieve their own goals.
