Along with his brother Richard, David then began experimenting with different breeds of dogs. Many of the dogs worked initially, but would soon lose interest due to their inherent instinct to retrieve. David and Richard eventually determined that the Border collie dog breed had the needed traits, and along with David's successful training methods, the geese were soon gone. Tac (as in "Sharp as a Tac") was the first Border collie trained for this unique purpose. As other golf courses in the area heard of David's goose control techniques and their success in solving the goose problem at the golf course where David was working, interest in the use of the dog grew. A few short years later, David formed The Geese Police in 1996, which became Geese Police, Inc. in 1997. Geese Police, Inc. now has over 35 specially-trained dogs, services clients throughout New Jersey and Rockland and Richmond counties in New York, and franchised its business concept throughout the country from 1998 to March 2003 when it sold to GPI, LLC. the right to use the Geese Police System and marks. GPI, LLC currently offers franchises.
